Barcelona Spain-1

Spain - Barcelona, Ibiza & Majorca

In Barcelona, visit the magnificent Gothic cathedral and the amazing La Sagrada Familia, Antoni Gaudí's unfinished masterpiece. Enjoy the lovely Montjuic Gardens, Gaudí's other fabulous structures, the charming squares of the old Gothic Quarter and the Ramblas, Barcelona's famed downtown promenade.

With its youthful spirit and natural beauty, the Balearic island of Ibiza (or "Eivissa," as it's known locally) appeals to those who love the outdoors. The beach-blessed coastline is majestically rugged, and the hills are covered with olive and fig trees. The capital of Ciudad de Ibiza offers a multitude of diversions, especially in the historic Dalt Vila district. Visit its 16th century Castle of Ibiza and the churches and Museum of Contemporary Art inside the fortified walls.

The beach-blessed coastline is majestically rugged, and the hills are covered with olive and fig trees.

Locals in Mallorca love to gather with friends around a table and share some homemade Hierbas (a liquor made from anise and other local herbs). With Oceania Cruises, you're invited you to come make your own bottle of Hierbas, just like a local! Walk the hills and collect the herbs you’ll need to make the Hierbas liquor and learn about local plant life while taking in the spectacular natural landscape.

saint-tropez-massif

France -  Marseille & St. Tropez

Beyond the port, enjoy the exquisite hilly Provençal countryside and its charming villages with their narrow stepped streets, lovely churches and stunning scenic views. Visit a local winery or take a drive along the rugged coast and revel in the wonderful views of the beaches, the landscape, the islands and the magnificent forested ridges of the Massif des Maures.

Saint-Tropez  has been for long one of the favorite stops of sailors between Marseille and Genoa. The painter Paul Signac attracted many other painters to this seaside town and soon the residents of Saint-Tropez included Seurat, Bonnard, Dufy, Kisling, Camoin, Matisse, Derain and Van Dongen, but it is Brigitte Bardot who turned it into a real myth in the 60s. Since then, this small, quiet harbor has turned into the “in” vacation spot for chic Parisians and international jet setters. On a walking tour, follow your local guide on a tour of the town, the history of which is deeply linked to the sea, with its traditional heritage and mythical places which have made it famous, such as the Place des Lices where players play bowls games, or the Citadelle.

Monte Carlo Manaco

Monte Carlo, Monaco

When in the French Riviera people often look to Monte Carlo for all the glitz and glamor. Drive along the famous Grand Corniche with its stunning views of Monaco and the Old City; then stroll through this marvelous quarter and its pink Grimaldi Palace. And don't forget the Casino. Explore the wonderful old villages along the Côte d'Azur from Nice to medieval Eze or Cannes, Grasse and lovely St. Paul de Vence - each one a jewel to be savored.

At Villa Kerylos you will see the French's interpretation of classic Greek architecture traced directly to the island of Delos in the 2nd century. Much like the Rothschild villa this location was designed with a wild imagination before the blueprint was ever made. With spectacular views over the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula, you will soon learn that natural surroundings play a big role in any architectural achievement. The eastern facade is considered the most impressive with stunning panoramas and intricately designed pillars, pergolas and mosaics.

In Villefranche, explore the fishing village often overshadowed by Nice and Monaco. Place de la paix, Rue du Poilu and Place du Conseil will be the highlights of your visit. One of the most picturesque ports in the Riviera!

Rom-Angelo-bridge

Italy - Portofino, Sorrento & Rome

Stroll through picturesque Portofino and Santa Margherita. Be awed by the stunning scenery as you explore the beautiful coastal resorts of Ravello, Sestri Levante or San Fruttuoso by local boat and on foot.

Enjoy magnificent panoramic views on the way up to the town, where you can stroll down medieval lanes past stunning palaces. See the famed Greek theater and its fantastic view of Mount Etna. Or take a trip to the volcano itself and get a first-hand look at cones, craters and lava streams from previous eruptions and a fantastic view over the Gulf of Catania. Venture into the countryside and its lovely hill towns, one with a Norman castle built of black lava, and visit beautiful old Catania.

A famous holiday destination since the time of the Romans, Sorrento has long been renowned for its extraordinarily mild climate. The "Amalfi Drive" is said to be the most spectacular road in Europe and from Sorrento, the winding cliff top road offers breathtaking panoramic views at every bend. Each spot is a world of its own, a fantastic world which dazzles the imagination and inspires unforgettable impressions.

Revel in the magnificent monuments of Rome. From the ancient Roman Forum and Coliseum to the splendor of St. Peter's Basilica with Michelangelo's Pietà and his breathtaking frescoes in the Sistine Chapel. Or enjoy a drive through the lush farmlands of the Roman countryside to lovely medieval Castelgandolfo.
