The parcels on which Rosewood Munich sits have been associated with nobility since the 17th century. In 1892, the Munich branch of the Royal Bavarian Bank acquired the plots of land and had the existing palaces demolished. After new building was complete, the bank moved into the buildings with the facades that still exist today. In 1944, the Palais was heavily damaged by bombing during World War II; Munich architect Erwin Schleich designed the new post-war building.
After multiple transformations and renovations, in 2019, the transformation into Rosewood Munich began. Inspired by the history of this site and of these magnificent buildings, and guided by Rosewood’s A Sense of Place® philosophy, Rosewood Munich is yet another illustrious chapter for this timeless landmark in Munich’s old town.
