Celebrate life, tradition, and spirituality with the Indian Holi Festival.

We often talk about the importance of understanding others. The desire to nurture empathy thrives within our community of jet-setters. Our curiosity drives us to board long flights and pulls us across seven continents to quench an unending curiosity about the world around us. As Winter gives way to spring explorers pack their bags and prepare for adventure.

Many cultures celebrate the lengthening days, but springtime in India should be every traveler's priority. One of the most popular amongst the many Indian festivals, Holi takes place on the last full moon day of the lunar month, Phalgun Poornima. As the seasons change, Holi demonstrates the triumph of divine power over demonic strength.

The Festival of colors

Locals welcome Holi with song, dance, community gatherings, and brilliant color strewn throughout cities. A celebration of life, tradition, and spirituality, Greaves facilitates a personal and immersive experience for all their guests.

Holi is celebrated by Hindus as a triumph of good over evil and is often described as "the festival of colors." On the second day of the holiday, locals throw colored pigment, or gulal into the air. Different colors symbolize emotions for loved ones such as love, passion, and opulence.

The Best Places to Celebrate

There are a few places in India where Holi celebrations are particularly noteworthy. This year, events will be held on March 18th.

Rajasthan is already a place of otherworldly beauty and vibrant colors, and its picture-perfect appeal only heightens during Holi. Celebrations here are as colorful and high-spirited as the holiday gets.

If you have a particularly festive streak, Greaves recommends celebrating in Goa, where the perpetual calendar of parties reaches a fever pitch during Holi.

Covid Regulations

India is currently at a level 1, or the safest option for travel, according to the CDC. Travel to India does require proof of vaccination or a negative test result within 72 hours of travel. Greaves Tours handles all Covid related criteria needed for entry.
