Norwegian Aqua has arrived & why it's making waves

A smarter, cooler, more experience-driven cruise ship? Say hello to Norwegian Aqua.

It’s clear that NCL is listening to what modern cruisers want: more space, more options, and more wow. Introducing Norwegian’s all-new More At Sea™, now featuring more unlimited beverage choices, more specialty dining meals and more value like: free airfare for your second guest, $50 shore excursion credit, and bring the kids for free! (3rd and 4th guest are free!)

To make things even better, enjoy up to $300 Shipboard Credit per stateroom for Oceanview staterooms or above on select voyages, only when you book with an MVT advisor.

So why is the Norwegian Aqua is making waves?
World’s First Aqua Slidecoaster

Yes, you read that right. Norwegian Aqua debuts the Aqua Slidecoaster, the world’s first hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide at sea. This adrenaline-pumping ride loops around the upper decks, combining high-speed thrills with splashy fun—guaranteed to be a hit with adventure seekers and families alike

Next-Level Design and Space

Building on the success of Norwegian Prima and Viva, the Aqua ups the ante with more spacious accommodations, elevated public areas, and expanded amenities. NCL is leaning into what guests crave most: room to breathe, relax, and truly unwind. The Aqua is all about delivering a luxury-style experience in a contemporary, laid-back atmosphere.

It’s Not Just Bigger — It’s Smarter

  • Smart lighting and temperature controls that adjust based on occupancy or time of day.
  • Mobile key access and app-based controls so guests can manage their room with their smartphone.
  • Enhanced connectivity with more bandwidth and faster Wi-Fi at sea.

Expanded Haven Experience

The exclusive Haven by Norwegian®—NCL’s “ship-within-a-ship” concept—is getting an even more luxurious makeover. Think: private sundecks, 24-hour butler service, and infinity-edge pools that make you feel like you’re floating over the ocean. For travelers who want an upscale escape with VIP service, The Haven on Aqua will set a new bar.

Revamped Dining and Entertainment

Expect immersive experiences from new specialty restaurants and redesigned venues with cutting-edge menus. NCL is also leaning into its “Freestyle Cruising” ethos with more flexible dining options and live entertainment that brings Broadway-caliber shows and Vegas-style energy to sea. On Aqua, no two nights feel the same.

Sustainability on the Seas

The Aqua is also NCL’s most sustainable ship yet, with advanced emissions-reduction systems and energy-efficient technologies throughout. As travelers become more conscious of their environmental footprint, Aqua proves that luxury and sustainability can sail hand-in-hand.

Cooler, Bolder Itineraries

Starting in 2025, Aqua will sail out of Port Canaveral, offering tropical Caribbean routes that blend sun-drenched islands with immersive shore excursions. Whether you're snorkeling in the Bahamas or savoring rum in the Dominican Republic, Aqua is the perfect launchpad for unforgettable adventures. What’s Onboard? A Little Bit of this and a lot of thrills

The Aqua Slidecoaster: Yes, That’s a Thing

Forget the usual water slides. Aqua’s Slidecoaster is a world-first hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide. It’s wild. You shoot around curves high above the ocean in a dual-track ride that somehow manages to be both fun and terrifying. In the best way.

Glow Court: Sports by Day, Dance Floor by Night

During the day, Glow Court is a high-tech LED sports zone — shoot hoops, play soccer, or get into some group competition. At night, it transforms into a glow-in-the-dark club. It’s one of those “why don’t all ships have this?” ideas.

Aqua Game Zone: Retro Meets VR

This isn’t just a kid’s arcade. Sure, there are throwback games, but there’s also virtual reality, interactive challenges, and just enough nostalgia to keep every generation entertained for hours.

Now let's talk food

Not Just a Buffet and Pizza Counter

Norwegian Aqua has 17 places to eat — and we’re not just talking about burgers and fries. Think global flavors, upscale dining, and fast-casual spots for when you just want something quick and good.

Sukhothai: Thai Food, Finally

This is NCL’s first-ever Thai specialty restaurant, and it’s long overdue. Expect rich, spicy curries, delicate noodle dishes, and bold flavors served in a stylish setting. Honestly? This would be a hit even on land.

Planterie: Plant-Based, but Make It Delicious

Plant-based eaters, rejoice. Aqua introduces Planterie, an all-vegan spot in the Indulge Food Hall. It’s vibrant, creative, and totally free of the sad-salad energy you sometimes get with “healthy” cruise food.

This Entertainment Isn’t Just Background Noise

Revolution: A Celebration of Prince

This isn’t a tribute band in purple wigs. It’s a fully produced theatrical concert experience that channels Prince’s energy, music, and visual style. It’s a must-see, even if you only know the hits.

Elements: A Classic, Reinvented

An upgraded take on NCL’s popular “Elements” show, this version uses acrobats, illusions, and stunning visuals to explore earth, air, fire, and water. It’s immersive, creative, and fun for all ages.

Where Is Norwegian Aqua Sailing?

After her christening in Miami (with Emmy-winner Eric Stonestreet as godfather — yep, Cam from Modern Family), Aqua will split her time between:

  • Miami & Port Canaveral: Caribbean & Bahamas getaways
  • Great Stirrup Cay: NCL's private island in the Bahamas
  • New York City: Bermuda routes (May–Oct 2025, and again in 2026)
  • Transatlantic Voyages: For a slower, more scenic style of cruise travel

Great Stirrup Cay

Norwegian Cruise Line recently announced the development of a new pier at Great Stirrup Cay, which is slated to be completed by late 2025 with an investment of approximately $150 million. The new pier will be constructed to simultaneously accommodate two large vessels of the Norwegian’s current and future ship classes. In addition, a large pool, Vibe Beach Club, and tram service will be coming to Great Stirrup Cay.

If you've purchased a Norwegian Cruise Line beverage package that works on the ship, you'll be happy to know that it also works on Great Stirrup Cay. This means that you can continue to enjoy unlimited drinks, including alcoholic beverages, while on the island without having to worry about additional charges.

What to pack for your cruise?

The beauty of a cruise is that you only need to unpack once! But the question of what to pack depends on where you're cruise itinerary will take you. Either way, you will most likely visit the pool, jacuzzi or spa while onboard so bring at least 2 bathing suits so one is always dry. You'll want to think resort casual while onboard and some evening wear for dinner and a show later.

Some other essentials:

  • Sunscreen!
  • Mini first aid
  • Passport
